Put date into dashboard email scheduling

I am looking to add the date into the subject of my scheduled email reports. I haven’t managed to find anything about this.

Does anyone know how this can be done, if it can be done at all?

Any questions and please just ask, many thanks.

Hi @riley.anderson - As per documentation, if you have the dashboard title which you can create a date filed as well, the you can mark as null for subject and it will pick the title as the subject.

See the details below from the document ( Document link - Scheduling and sending reports by email - Amazon QuickSight)

(Optional) For (Optional) E-mail subject line , enter a custom subject line, or leave it blank to use the report title

Please do a POC and see the outcome. Hope this will help you.

Hi @Sanjeeb2022,

I have created a datetime parameter and made it default relative to todays date.

I have then added an Analysis Title (not sure if that’s the correct place):

I have then removed the ‘Email subject line (optional)’:

I have then received the email and it just says ‘(no subject)’:

Please let me know if this is correct or what I need to change to make it work.
I appreciate the help, many thanks.

Hi @riley.anderson : You did the right steps, looks like it is not working as expected. Can you please submit a ticket to AWS Customer support team so that they can advise you on this. To raise the ticket, please follow the link - Creating support cases and case management - AWS Support

Tagging @Ashok @Max @David_Wong - Need your help. The requirement is to add a custom subject line with date field, followed the documentation and as per document if there is no subject line or blank, it will take the header of the report but its not working, Is there any work around solution for this?

Hi @Sanjeeb2022,

Thank you for confirming. I had also since added the parameter into the sheet title just incase the analysis title wasn’t the correct place but that also didn’t make any difference.

Okay, I will raise a ticket with AWS Support.

Thank you for your help!

Riley

Hi @Sanjeeb2022,

I had a response back from AWS Support: ‘During my investigation, I understood that with the current feature set of quicksight, unfortunately, as of now, Quicksight doesn’t support the above requested functionality. Having said this, upon checking internally, I found that there are already existing feature requests in this regard, and I have further highlighted your case as supporting evidence to assist in adding this feature.’

I am confused, the documentation and yourself have said that leaving the subject line blank will use the report title, however, I am being told by support that it not supported by the current functionality?

Should I go back and try and say that it is a supported functionality but it is just not working as intended or is the documentation incorrect.

Regards, Riley

Hi @riley.anderson - Thanks. you can update the case and refer the documentation as well. If the feature is not available, the documentation link should be updated to avoid the confusion.

If it is a feature request, we have to wait.
