QuickSight Metadata/Dataset Refresh Status

Hello!

We are trying to find a way that we can pull the metadata from QuickSight regarding the checkbox for ‘Email owners when a refresh fails’ so we can quickly determine which of our datasets has this checked off and which do not. What is the best way to pull this?

I have reviewed CloudWatch and from what I have played around with so far, I am not seeing a way, in CloudWatch, to list which data sets have failed to refresh and list the name of the data sets rather than just the IDs, as well as if the data set was then refreshed after the failure.

In general, we’re trying to find an easier way to quickly see which data sets failed to refresh, and that’s why we thought maybe the emailing when there is a failure was a better solution than CloudWatch (just need to quickly see which data sets we need to turn this on for). Unless there’s a way to capture what I mentioned above in CloudWatch?

Hello @malloryscott, in regards to obtaining the metadata on the dataset failure, I am not sure if there is a way to retrieve that. I do know though that the email that is sent to you on failure does contain the name of the dataset. I always set these up and find them to be rather helpful, especially when you have a lot of datasets on an account.

The email also returns the time of the failure, the time of the last successful refresh, and the next time it is scheduled to refresh. Let me know if that helps!

Hello @malloryscott, since we have not heard back from you, I will mark my previous response as the solution. Please let me know if you have any remaining questions on this topic. Thank you!
