QuickSight Q-Topic date in the wrong format

Hello,

I’m asking questions in my topics to find data.
But i have a problem, i would like Quicksight to interpret my date in the format DD/MM/YYYY.
Do you know how you do that please?

Thanks for your help

Hi @Paul - Have you formatted the date column in question in the data set with the format you want to use ie DD/MM/YYYY?

It works for me. It interprets 06/05/2023 the same way as June 5 2023.

Your format is MM/DD/YYYY. In OPs case 06/05/2023 would be 6th of May 2023.

Yes, i have formatted my date in DD/MM/YYYY. But the filter condition seems to be always in this format YYYY-MM-DD. How can i change the filter date format?
Thanks for you help

@Paul From what I read here and here QuickSight and SPICE will use UTC to interpret dates so I don’t think you can change that filter setting.

Note

If a column or attribute has no time zone information, then the client query engine sets the default interpretation of that date-time data. For example, suppose that a column contains a timestamp, rather than a timestamptz, and you are in a different time zone than the data's origin. In this case, the engine can render the timestamp differently than you expect. Amazon QuickSight and SPICE both use Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) times.

Hi @Paul - If nothing else works I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!
