Reset zoom without resetting dashboard?

Hi,

Is there a way for viewers to quickly reset the zoom on a visual without resetting the dashboard or futzing with the zoom bar? The zoom bar tends to jump to show a different window rather than resizing, and even with lots of experience it usually takes me multiple clicks to successfully resize.

For my dashboard users, they’ve expressed frustration at being unable to quickly zoom out after zooming in. Resulting in them feeling the best option is to refresh the whole dashboard which is not ideal either.

Hello @SYork !

To clarify, are you talking about the data zoom (blue bar) at the bottom of visuals:

or do you mean the “maximize” button at the top right corner of a visual:

Hey @SYork !

You can remove that on the analysis level on the Format Visual menu under X-axis:

You just uncheck that and republish your dashboard and it will be gone.

Yes, I understand it can be removed, which does prevent people from getting stuck zoomed in.

I think the bigger concern is that people want to zoom in, and then have trouble zooming back out. I’m gathering there isn’t a ‘reset zoom’ function available on an individual visual. Is that feature on the development roadmap?

Hello @SYork!

From my testing and what I can find there is not a specific reset data zoom functionality. I can mark this as a feature request for the Quicksight team.

The users should be able to move that zoom bar back to the right to zoom back out but it can be tricky to get the cursor to land in the right spot.
