I’m currently facing some challenges in locating comprehensive documentation regarding the permission options for shared folders in QuickSight. While I’ve grasped the distinctions between Viewer and Owner permissions, I find myself uncertain about the extent of the “Contributor” permission.
Could someone kindly provide an explanation or guide me to the appropriate resources for further information? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your quick reply and sharing the link.
I was familiar with that document, in there it states the following:
Shared folders have two access levels, owners and viewers:
The folder owner owns everything (folders, analyses, dashboards, datasets) inside of the folder.
The folder viewer can only use the assets (folders, dashboards, datasets) in the folder. A viewer can’t edit or share those assets.
As you can see there is no mention of “contributor”, which is also a permission option. I’m wondering if the “contributor” option was recently introduced, and that’s why there is not much information around.
Thank you for your response. I am not aware of any contributor permission as such. could you share where do see such permission ?
May be by any chance are you referring to co-owner ?
Now i got it, sorry for the confusion here. Basically ’ Contributor’ is the Author who can create/ publish / add / to the folders to be consumed by readers and delete as well (as owner). Contributor can publish only their own content (example: Dashboards) to folders that is being shared to them. They cannot add to shared folders if they don’t own the dashboards.
@Deep@Ashok is there a way where i create dashboards and then let others to edit , publish but they can’t delete the dashboard ? how can i achieve it . i want to set this permission at folder level
