If I had 500 GB Spice capacity and the datasets occupied only 300GB space, does the charges happens on the 500GB or 300GB? Appreciate ur answers
Hi @lalprasanth - The SPICE dataset charges will be for the storage you purchased. So, if you added 500GB of SPICE storage, then the cost will be for the 500GB. You can manage unused SPICE capacity in the console.
In case you are looking to not overprovision the SPICE storage, you can investigate the new auto scaling feature launched for SPICE.
Now, customers can effortlessly opt in to the capacity auto-purchase with just one click. This new SPICE auto-purchase capability eliminates the need for customers to estimate usage and manually purchase SPICE capacity each time. Instead, they can seamlessly ingest data and use SPICE worry free, as QuickSight will automatically acquire the necessary capacity to meet their usage requirements.
@awsvig can auto purchase automatically step down spice capacity if the required datasets storage becomes less? For example today the data is covering 500GB and tomorrow the data reduced to 400GB, does the auto purchase adjust accordingly
@lalprasanth - No, the release of the spice storage does not automatically happen today.
