I would like to create a text search box to select a specific categorical values from a dimension. For example searching for a specific brand name in a specific Car_Name Dimension. Is there any possible way to do that instead of using filter and make that as a dropdown.
Hello @Haripriya, are you wanting it to filter an image and display on the sheet as a dropdown rather than in the controls section? What you can do is create a parameter called something like CarName. You can give it a default value if you want, otherwise it will default to “All”.
Then create a control from that parameter, you can make it a dropdown and link it to the column in your dataset that contains your Car_Name Dimension.
Next, if you select the 3 dots on the control, you can click the “Move to sheet” option so it can be in the display with your visuals.
Last, link that parameter to a filter for your Car_Name Dimension field. Now it can exist as a dropdown within your sheet, you can display it where you want, and filter any related visuals based on that selection! I’ll include a link for documentation on parameter controlled filters here and show an image below of the “Format Control” tab so you can see the selected options.
