While designing our initial solution we uploaded an Excel file as our dataset. Now that we are maturing our solution we are dumping CSVs in S3. I attempted to describe the Excel based DataSet so I can recreate the same metadata for our CSV in S3. Unfortunately the describe dataset gives me this error:
The data set type is not supported through API yet

Any known work arounds?

I’m currently trying to manually recreate the DataSet in the user interface but am facing other issues related to dates and formatting. (I’ll create another question for that)

Data Format not accepted when working with S3

I have an Excel based DataSet that I am trying to recreate with a CSV in S3 … I’m manually trying to recreate the dataset meta data but I’m running into issues with dates. I’m trying to use the same date format from my Excel Based dataset (left side) with my CSV in S3 dataset (right side) [image] If I click Validate it looks to be valid; but when I click Update I get the red error show in the screenshot above.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you can describe file formats in the describe dataset through the API.

I will explain more in your related question but I would suggest using Athena.
