Hi I have multiple dashboards created from several analyses (not templates) but they are not showing any thumbnails in the dashboard tab. Most of them are showing a stock image except for a couple of my metrics. Is there a way for me to make a thumbnail appear or for me to choose my own thumbnail. I have included a picture for reference.

Hi @dkira44 - Is there any RLS ( Row Level Security) implemented to the datasets which are used in these dashboard? Possibly that may be a reason you are not able to see the sample visual icon.

Hi @Sanjeeb2022, So I do have RLS applied to the dataset, The RLS has groupName and company name columns so that a user belonging to one of those companies will only see data from their company (Their companyName matches the companyName in a line item). Would that be the reason no dashboards are showing up? I appreciate the help.
Hi @dkira44 - When RLS is used, we should see a lock icon in the dashboard/Analysis. If you are creating the dashboard via API, please make sure you should update the permission and give the permission to the user to see the dashboard.

So as of now, any user belonging to one of the companies stated in the RLS file is able to see and use the dashboard. The dashboards have been shared with various groups that belong to various companies. Users are added to the groups. (ex: a user might be added to the group apple-readers, which in the RLS would relate to Apple-Inc, the dashboard itself is shared with apple-readers. Thanks.
I think you’re right. When RLS is applied, there’s a default icon shown instead of the preview. I think it makes total sense. RLS rules aren’t evaluated before the user opens the analysis/dashboard, so Quick Sight shouldn’t reveal anything about the data until then.

Thank you guys for clearing up the issues. That being said, is there a way for me to upload a generic image or thumbnail so it is not the same stock image showing for each of my dashboards that require RLS?

Hi @dkira44 - As of now, this feature is not available, probably we can request AWS Quick Sight team to add it down the line.

What is the update here? A year and half passed and still there is no way to set an image for either analysis or dashboard. I mean this does not look like a feature which would take so long to release. Please consider this.

Yes, please. It is very unprofessional to have an outwardly customer-facing service with Quick Sight when the landing page looks cluttered with the same image over and over again. My customers get confused about which dashboard is which. Additionally, it would be nice to have descriptions for dashboards that show once you hover over them, similar to the tooltips.
