Unable to pull WoW trends for WBR callout automation using flows

Hi
I am trying to automate my WBR callouts. I created a flow and linked a dashboard to it. The flow works fine but it is unable to filter all the data for the requested weeks and then generate the callouts. My dashboard has data for YTD but for my WBR callouts I am only interested in understanding the WoW trends for latest weeks but the flow is unable to do so. Is this a known limitation? And is there a workaround?

Thanks
Priyanka

Hi @prisings,
While I’m unaware if this is a current limitation or not, we can try to figure out why this isn’t operating correctly; In terms of your prompt for the flows, could you share some additional information on what you’re asking it to perform (and additionally, what responses is it providing from that prompt and how does it vary from the desired output)?
In terms of your dataset, do you have a proper date field that would be able to handle week over week calculations?
While I’m not completely sure if Flows operate in the same demeanor, I do know that if you use a dashboard as a source of a chat agent, it can only gather information from created visuals in the dashboard. So if fields are not used within a visual (even though they’re within the dataset being used in the dashboard), the agent will not be able to provide accurate results. I wonder if flows operates in the same way.

Thanks for your response Brett. So i do have a week number filter in my dataset. However, it is used as a filter option at the top and the dashboard needs to be filtered to the required weeks to get that week metrics. I am wondering if this is a limitation of flows. I do ask the flow to compare the wow data. This is the response i get from flow

Hi @prisings,

We experienced a similar issue with our automation flows. The key limitation we discovered is that flows only run based on the filters you have currently selected and cannot dynamically pick or change filters during execution.

For our month-over-month comparisons, we found a workaround that might help with your WoW analysis:

Solution: Create a separate view specifically for your flow that contains all the time period data you need (in your case, all weeks). This dedicated view should include:

  • Current week data

  • Previous week data

  • Any additional weeks needed for trending

Then configure your flow to use this comprehensive view instead of relying on the filtered dashboard. This way, you can perform current and previous week comparisons within the same flow execution without needing to dynamically adjust filters.

The flow can then calculate WoW trends by accessing both time periods from this single, unfiltered dashboard.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you need more details on setting up the dedicated view.

Thanks Somyav.
But if i create this view with these weeks, will flow be able to differentiate between the week’s metrics? My dashboard has a lot of visualizations. It has pie charts, bar graphs, tables etc. Are you suggesting that i just create a tabular view with all the metrics in so that the flow can pick this info up?

Hi prisings,

You could create a tabular view, or if your existing view has titles for all visuals, prompt the flow to go to a particular sheet and add the visual title to perform WOW analysis.

Hope this helps!

Hi @prisings,

Following up here as it’s been awhile since last communication took place on this thread; did you have any additional questions regarding your initial post?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you
