Unable to update field mapping

Hi all,

I just uploaded a new dataset to an existing analysis, and I am unable to get one of my fields to map. All fields except for the “Project type” field are correctly mapped and are filtering just fine.

I originally made the mistake of titling the column “Project Type” (capitalizing the word ‘type’), so Quicksight was unable to map the field correctly. I then tried creating a calculated field called “Project type” (the word ‘type’ correctly not capitalized), but the mapping did not update. I then created a new, identical column in my new dataset with the correct title and it still is not mapping.

What can I do to make this work?

hi @prestonb

Welcome to QuickSight Community and thank you for posting a question.

I am guessing you are trying to have cross dataset filtering. Cross dataset filtering should work even if all the fields in target dataset don’t have a match. What matters is whether the fields being used for filtering are present in target dataset and correctly picked as a match in the field mapping.
Are you trying to create a filter on Project type column?

kind regards,
Wakana

Hi Wakana, that is correct: I’m trying to create a cross-dataset filter on the Project type column. You mentioned that it’s important to correctly pick the field as a match in the field mapping – can I do that myself? I’m only aware of the automatic mapping, which hasn’t been working.

Hi @prestonb,
It’s been awhile since there’s been any activity on this topic; were you able to find a work around solution for your case or are you still in need of further assistance?

Here’s some additional documentation about mapping and joining fields.

Let us know if you have any additional questions; if we do not hear back within 3 business days, I’ll go ahead and close out this topic!
