UNION ALL two or more datasets, native solution required

Hello AWS QuickSight Dev Team,

I’d like to raise attention to what seems like a longstanding request: the ability to natively perform a UNION ALL across multiple datasets in QuickSight. I can find discussions about this need dating back to 2022. While there are workarounds, they’re often cumbersome and don’t provide the streamlined functionality a true UNION ALL command should offer.

In our case, we have more than 10 SPICE datasets, each containing 80+ columns. All these datasets share the exact same structure (identical column counts, names, and data types). Our goal is to simply consolidate them into a single dataset—essentially performing a UNION ALL on these SPICE datasets—without resorting to unwieldy external processes or complex hacks.

Is there a timeline or roadmap update for incorporating a native UNION ALL feature? Such an enhancement would significantly simplify our analytics workflow and provide a much more elegant solution than current workarounds. We appreciate any insight or updates on this matter.

Thank you!

Hi @jaimentu

Sorry, QuickSight does not natively support the UNION ALL operation across multiple datasets.

Currently, the primary workaround involves performing the UNION ALL operation outside of QuickSight, such as within your data source or during the ETL process, and then importing the consolidated dataset into QuickSight.

While, I am unable to provide a timeline for this feature to be included in QuickSight, I have tagged this as a feature request so the product team knows it is an important update for QuickSight customers.
