Right now my Quicksight access only allows me to view dashboards. However I am part of team where I now need to create dashboards. How do I update my access to create new dashboards and to upload files? Thank you, Maegan

You can’t do it. You need to ask an admin of your QuickSight account. He needs to promote your user.

Under “manage QuickSight” (top right corner) is a “manage user” section.
