I want to add a URL link to one column in a table. The URL link field is created with the concatenation with some other custom aggregated field. even through this URL field is categorized as a dimension as I can see the blue equal sign. But it is not allowed to be put in the dimension category in the analysis. error code: 'custom aggregation is not allowed as a dimension. 'As a result, I can’t find this URL field in the field styling options… Can you please help?
Hi @Cindy – you can add URL links to table columns in QuickSight by using the “URL action” feature. This allows you to construct a custom URL by combining a base URL with values from fields in your data. To do this, first format the table visual and select the column you want to be a clickable link. Then in the “URL options” section, choose “URL action” and enter the base URL. You can then add the data fields you want to append to the base URL to construct the full clickable link. So in your case, where the URL is a concatenation of some other fields, you should be able to use the URL action to build that custom URL based on the values in those other fields. Thank you for your reply. I am an amazon internal user, my alias is cindyxyl. I’d like to propose a brief meeting to discuss this matter further if that works for you, as it pertains to our CSM leaders. Our situation is somewhat unique. We’ve already implemented the write-back function as described in this AWS blog post: Perform secure database write-backs with Amazon QuickSight | AWS Business Intelligence Blog
Our goal is to collect row-level feedback from users. Specifically, we want to provide multiple feedback options (e.g., ‘like’, ‘dislike’) for each row, with each option linked to a different submission URL.
I understand that your current approach allows for only one URL per row. However, our requirement is to have multiple URLs for different columns within each row.
Could we discuss how to adapt your solution to accommodate our multi-URL per row need? Or how to put a dimension with custom aggregations in dimension section in an analysis. My previous question was not super clear, I have edited it.
