Variable text

Hello Community,
I need your help to resolve this problem.
I have this table:

Id | Sprint Name | Start date | end date | Status
1 | Sprint 1 | 11/12/2023 | 16/12/2023 | actual
2 | Sprint 2 | 18/12/2023 | 23/12/2023 | planning
…and others with state closed…

I need to create a report in which, according to the date and the status values some text boxes change. For example, a Subtitle of the report would be:

“Current Sprint (from: 11/12/2023 to: 16/12/2023)” → notice that the dates need to come from the table above.

And a second subtitle would be:
“Next Sprint to start on: 18/12/2023” → notice that the start date comes from the table above (status= Planning).

After some days, the table would change to:
Id | Sprint Name | Start date | end date | Status
1 | Sprint 1 | 11/12/2023 | 16/12/2023 | closed
2 | Sprint 2 | 18/12/2023 | 23/12/2023 | actual
3 | Sprint 3 | 25/12/2023 | 30/12/2023 | planning

And the subtitles in the report should convert to:
“Current Sprint (from: 18/12/2023 to: 23/12/2023)” and
“Next Sprint to start on: 25/12/2023”

How can I create these “dynamic” labels?

Thank you for your ideas

Hi Carlos,

You can use QuickSight custom Insight visual type to create dynamic text (narratives). Within insight you can use parameters, field values blended to show static and dynamic text with formatting.

Custom insights

Custom insights enable you to create your own computation, using your own words to give context to the fields that appear in the widget. When you create a custom insight, you add it to the analysis, and then choose what type of calculation that you want to use. Then, you can add text and formatting to make it look how you want. You can also add more fields, calculations, and parameters.

Hello Anwar,

Thank you so much for your response. I was trying to create the narrative, however, as the dataset has two dates fields, the object doesn’t allow me to include both of them.

Would you have any suggest on how can I include both date fields in the same narrative?

I am grateful for your help.

Hi Carlos,

For this requirement can you try overlay visual in free form layout. You can overlap different visuals (with date-fields), filters, insight and text box to make it appear as one visual to end users.
Below is an example of the free form layout overlay visual dashboard. (click edit icon form left to go to analysis to understand how it has been configured).
