Visual Help Text / Guidance Pop up on mouse over

Hi. I want to add guidance / help text to a visual. Similar to a “mouse over”. So, if user mouse over the visual guidance text pop up. Is this possible?

Hi @heinserf
no it’s not. But you could integrate with an on/off button.

@ErikG Thanks for the response. Can you provide me with little more details? Are you suggesting using parameters and adding a rule to display or hide insight (used to detail guidance)?

@heinserf
Yes. You can create text boxes (with guidance), a parameter and rules to show/hide the textboxs. The parameter can be changed via control or pictures with navigation action.

Hi all,

Is there any cleaner way to do this, or maybe a feature in the product roadmap? I’m not able to get this to work. I have complex calculations in my dashboard that I would like to make apparent to the user.

For example, in Tableau I would create a text box that is activated by a button that looks like “[?]” where the user can click this, and a large text box would pup up and overlay existing panes that would contain detailed information on data sources and calculations.

I apologize I’m relatively new to QS, thanks in advance.

Hi @ErikG

I need to do the same thing as Colton.

I would like to similar to ‘mouse over’, but without parameter.

Can you help us, please?

Thanks,

@July you can use a picture/button, parameter and navigation action. you would need the button twice in order to hide/show

hit the button(1), navigation action + set parameter show
hit again button(2), navigation action + set parameter hide

Hi @ErikG

When clicking the button, I need to display a text over the chart, and the user needs to close the component, but I can’t show and hide the text component with the same button.

And putting 2 different buttons, it looks strange, because I also need to hide the close button when closing the text, how do I do that?

Tks!

@July but you can overlap the buttons that it looks like one single button.

Hi @ErikG

When I overlap the buttons, it only obeys the action on the button in front, that is, only the action of opening or closing, never both.

Any ideia?

Thank you

Are you hiding the button based on the same rule?

Hi ErikG

The action of the first button has the value 1 and the action of the second button has the value 2.
The visual is based on the rule. If 1 then it shows, if 0 then it hides.

When I place a button on top of another, it does not perform any action.

I don’t know if this is the correct way to do it.

Do you have a practical example?

Thank you

But do you have the show/hide rule for the button as well?

No, I don´t. Do I need to have one?

Yes, so you can hide and show the button as well.
