What is the difference between parameters and filters?

Hello all,

New member here.
I have recently started using QS as part of my job. I am trying to understand what is the difference between using filters on the dashboard itself and using filters linking through parameters and then using them?
Which one is better/ efficient?

Welcome to community :slight_smile:
A filter allows you to filter data in the same sheet. If you are building a dashboard which consists of multiple sheets and would like to filter the same value across all those sheets , you would use a parameter.
Filter : Applied at the sheet level
Parameter : Applied at dashboard level
