Our organization is evaluating Amazon Q in Quicksight, particularly focusing on the QnA dashboard capabilities. I’m looking for the following information:
Model Specifications - What underlying models power this functionality, like is it some of foundational LLM? and where are they deployed?
Regional Data Processing - For European deployments (e.g., eu-west-1 eu-west-2 etc), are those QnA queries processed within EU data centers? We need clarity on data residency compliance.
In regards to your first question, I have had multiple conversations with the Q product team directly and this is information that they are not currently releasing or sharing. They have mentioned that there are a few different models they are using, and the one on your account depends on your use case. Maybe in the future there will be more information, but currently this is not specifically provided.
As for your 2nd point. I cannot seem to find any clarity on this. I would imagine that AWS is compliant with EU regulations if they are doing work in the region, but I also don’t want to promise something I am not 100% sure about. I would recommend opening a support ticket to get confirmation on your 2nd question.

If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf.
