Is there anyway to write back a column value to table or csv via quicksight?
Requirements:
Weekly Employee Hours Tracking: A QuickSight report tracks employees working less than 20 hours weekly. A new record is added each week to reflect updated hours data from the data warehouse.
Manual Process for Capturing Reasons: Currently, users download the report, upload it to SharePoint, and manually add a new column where team leaders provide reasons for employees working fewer hours. The process involves copying comments from previous weeks for recurring employees, then manually maintaining an Excel tracker.
Automation Need: is there anyway to automate this flow so that:
The report is updated automatically based on the data loaded into the data warehouse.
The reasons/comments are read directly from SharePoint and integrated into the QuickSight report.
New comments for employees can be updated in SharePoint and reflected in QuickSight.
A simpler workaround/approach might be to add a link on the dashboard that sends users to a form (e.g., Google Forms or Microsoft Forms or in SharePoint) to collect comments or feedback on specific data.
Sorry, currently this is not possible but I’m marking this for feature request. At AWS, their roadmap is primarily driven by customers. Your feedback helps them build a better service. I have tagged this as a feature request. More features are being added on a regular basis, so please keep an eye on the [What’s New / Blog ] (What’s New / Blog - Amazon QuickSight Community). You can set up a Watching Alert by clicking on the bell icon.
You could look to opening up a case with AWS and see if they can provide a solution.
Here are the steps to open a support case . If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf.
Could you please provide more details on the workaround you mentioned.
