Wrong Data Format

The CXO ARK Scan Compliance report contains an error in the data type formatting for the RMA ID column. It should be designated as a text field.

Hi @hsjesula

Welcome to the QuickSight community!

You can easily easily correct the data type for this column to String/Text.

To make this change, you can:

  • Edit the Dataset used in the report.
  • Locate the RMA ID column.
  • Change the data type to Text/String.
  • Save/Publish the changes and refresh the analysis to apply the updated format.

Thanks for your soon reply, that’s what I do every time that I need to read the data, is there anyway to have the data on the right format? without us to modify it? it should be just formatted as text.

Hi @hsjesula

When QuickSight retrieves data, it assigns each field a data type based on the data in the field. If you want to change datatype of field you need to edit the dataset and change the data type.

Please refer to the below documentation this might be helpful for you.

However, it would be helpful if we had the right data, which we currently lack due to an incorrect original field definition. Perhaps the developer who generated the report isn’t aware of this. Is there a way to inform them?

This would ensure we have accurate information and reduce manual processes that can lead to errors.

Hi @hsjesula

Please check with your organization’s QuickSight admin to identify the owner of the dataset so they can be notified to correct it. Otherwise, you will need to gain access to the dataset to change the datatype.
