eventlog read failed: Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0)
update_feed, publish_day_plan not working
“Feed eventlog corrupted — all update_feed and publish_day_plan calls fail with Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0). Clear feed from settings did not fix it. Likely needs manual deletion/recreation of the eventlog file.”
Hi @entahiri
Welcome to the Quick community!
Thank you for reporting this, the error Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0) is a JSON parse error, which typically indicates that the feed’s internal data file has become empty or corrupted.
Unfortunately, the Clear feed option in Settings may not fully reset this file in all cases.
Workaround - As a potential fix, you can try the following:
- Fully quit Amazon Q Desktop (not just close the window, exit completely from the system tray or menu bar).
- Navigate to your profile directory:
%USERPROFILE%\.quickwork\
- Locate any feed-related JSON file that appears to be empty (0 bytes) or contains invalid content.
- Rename the file (e.g., append
_backup) rather than deleting it, so you can restore it if needed
- Restart Amazon Q Desktop it should recreate the file automatically on launch
Note: Please back up your entire .quickwork folder before making any changes, just to be safe.

If the issue still persists, I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf.
