Automatic direct query controls refresh (<24 hours)

Are there plans to enhance Quicksight’s performance around automatically refreshing controls? 24 hours is far too long for our customers. While manual refresh is an option, it’s an unnecessary distraction to our technical team and causes reporting delays to customers.

Hi @hilaryn - Welcome to AWS QuickSight community and thanks for posting the question. Yes, you are right, the automatic refresh of controls are set 24 hours , i am not sure whether we can change it programmatically way or not or change a schedule for that, that can be treat as a feature request.

Hi @Jesse @Max @David_Wong - Please advise on this.

Hi @hilaryn - If your datasets are configured to use SPICE, the values in your control will update each time SPICE is refreshed. If you are using Direct Query, then the cadence is 24 hours. SPICE datasets can be incrementally refreshed up to every 15 min (or 1 hour for full refresh). Are you able to use SPICE instead of Direct Query?

Thanks @Jesse . Looks like one advantage of SPICE where controls will refresh with SPICE refresh.

Thanks, Jesse and Sanjeeb. We’re using Direct Query so that our customers always have the latest and greatest data reflected in the insights.

Hi @Jesse - For direct query, can we add a feature request down the line to custom refresh of controls as well? Please advise.

Understood - if 15 min latency is still too stale, then we will tag more frequent control refreshes for Direct Query as a feature request to be considered by the product team.

Hi @hilaryn - Can you please mark the require suggestion as solution as it will be a feature request.
