Instantaneous control refresh while using direct query

Hi Quicksight Team,

Could you please provide an update on the plans for more frequent or instantaneous control refreshes for Direct Query mode? Our customers would not want to use manual refresh as there are multiple filters on the dashboard that’ll need to refresh everytime.

Automatic direct query controls refresh (<24 hours)

Are there plans to enhance Quicksight’s performance around automatically refreshing controls? 24 hours is far too long for our customers. While manual refresh is an option, it’s an unnecessary distraction to our technical team and causes reporting delays to customers.

@tanmay_n you can auto refresh dashboard with 60 seconds when using direct query mode and requires capacity pricing enablement, please refer this post - Auto dashboard page refresh - #4 by Jesse

@DeepakS Thanks for the reply. Actually, we would not want to use capacity pricing as we do not have a huge number of customers currently using the dashboards.

However, could another way to tackle this be - to create a new dashboard per user programmatically whenever there is a request to view the dashboard ? I could then make sure that the old dashboard is deleted and replaced with this new dashboard and this way the filters would also reflect the latest state.

What are your thoughts on this?

@tanmay_n I am not aware of your use case, looks like the dashboard refresh may based on a user request or event that triggers the request, you can try that approach, validate if the approach will meet your requirements and will help in achieving the expected business outcome.

Yes thanks we were able to create dashboards using the templates per user request and achieve our required use case.
