Bin Management Dashboard/APP

Hello everyone! I am trying to build a dashboard using the aws-infra account on quicksight, that provides better visibility and tracking of Overflow and e-waste bins. I have now build an app using mockup data that is basically a dashboard, since I was not able to create dashboards myself (probably no access to this?).

My questions are:

  • Why am I unable to give even viewing access to others to this app?
  • Is it possible to link this app to backend to retrieve the data I need and if yes how? AI is telling me that it needs an API Connector etc and my account has no access to that or something among those lines.
  • Will i need to scratch the app and just create a new dashboard once/if i get access to do so?

P.S. there is already another dashboard that is accessing and retrieving that data but my team needed something more tailored to our needs

Below, I will provide a screenshot of what i am trying to build.
Thank you in advance

Hi @nikotses and welcome to the Quick Community!

The new Apps feature within Quick is still in preview so its capabilities are limited. Therefore, features like sharing access or connecting relevant data sources stored within the Quick application are not currently available in its preview state.

My suggestion is to play around with it and see if this is something that you can see yourself or your organization use in the future for when it does fully released to the public.

Hi @nikotses ,

An update just rolled out and you should be able to share any apps you created. I just tested it out myself and it worked on my side. Please let me know if you have any difficulties sharing the apps.

Thank you for your reply JacobR, I can now share apps created on quicksight.
I am still trying to figure out the best way to request upgraded access to my account in order to create this dashboard

Hi @nikotses ,

Regarding upgraded access to your account, that will be something you will have to react out internally within your organization as this is a public user forum. I recommend trying to reach out to your account admin as they should be able to upgrade your access.

Hi @nikotses,

Hope all is well! Just checking back in since we haven’t heard from you in a bit. I wanted to see if the guidance shared earlier helped resolve your question, or if you found a solution in the meantime.

If you still have any additional questions related to your initial post, feel free to share them. Otherwise, any update you’re able to provide within the next 3 business days would be helpful for the community.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well and kindly thank you for your replies!

I am currently through the process of getting AUTHOR access for my account in hope that will allow me to have access to the backend dataset that I need, but it’s a bit harder than expected.

Meanwhile, I figured out a work around that allows my app to get the data using Spaces and csv files.
Sadly Quick Flow cannot save the file it generates directly on Spaces so I have to manually download and upload it. I have set Flow to automatically create a file every work day so that helps a bit, but i still need to tell my app to get the data from the new csv file in Spaces every time.
I believe all this will be solved if/when i mage to get AUTHOR access, so i will be able to access databases directly on Spaces.
It’s messy but i guess you can say it works :grimacing:
