Can we add the information which dataset is used for a specific visual in the dashboard? I know that we can all the datasets used in the whole dashboard, but if we could make this more specific it would be great. Thanks
Hello @Handelma
How do you want this to appear in your dashboard?
You could create a text box in your analysis that lists the datasets used in your dashboard. That way the dashboard developer doesn’t have to do anything outside of the console.
The problem is not on my own dashboards. But I was gathering information on other dashboards before, and it was quite hard to find the datasets used for specific visuals sometimes. I had to contact multiple owners and it was a long process.
For example when i have clicked on a visual you could show here:
"Dataset used for current visual: .. "
Hey @Handelma
In this case I would recommend adding the dataset used to the subtitle of the visual.
While dashboards can have multiple datasets, each visual on your dashboard can only be made from one dataset at a time. So you could create system using free form layout, conditional rules, and text boxes to create a system like you described above, you would only be displaying one dataset so it would be easier to just add it to the subtitle of the visual.
The problem is that I am often times trying to reuse dataset from other dashboards. These are not my own boards and I cannot decide what title they add. Since I am able to see the dataset used for the whole dashboard I don’t think there would be any constraint to add the information for each visual somewhere.
Hello @Handelma
I can mark this as a feature request for the Quick Sight team.
The solution I described above is something you would have to implement across a team of dashboard developers.
