Can't manage groups as an Admin

I was made an Admin for my account but I can’t see Admin-level permissions. More specifically, I can’t see the ‘Manage groups’ option in my side bar when I go to ‘Manage Quick Sight’. I have just a Quick Sight account, no AWS linked account. Is that the reason why I can’t see Admin-level permissions and objects? The documentation doesn’t mention that requirement anywhere so any clarification would be helpful

Hi @maat and welcome to the Quick Sight community!
Is this the documentation you’re referring to? Do other admins in your account have the ability to access the manage groups option? Are you able to see the other ‘Manage…’ options like Manage users, assets, pricing, etc.?

I would suggest filing a support ticket; this way you can get direct account assistance from the AWS support team.

Hi @maat,

Following up here as it’s been awhile since we last heard from you; did you have any additional questions regarding your initial post?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!

Hi Brett,

My Quicksight isn’t linked to an AWS IAM account/role yet so I haven’t been able to create a support ticket. To answer your first question - the attached screenshot is all I can see when I go to “Manage Quick Sight” :

Hi @maat,

Hope everything is well! Just checking in since this thread hasn’t received a response in a while. Were you able to find a workaround to your question in the meantime or are you still unable to manage groups? If the latter, I would recommend reaching out to a respective IT admin or someone who has privileges to create a support ticket so that AWS Support can potentially aid in getting your account configured. Please let me know if this helps!

I still haven’t gotten this resolved. I believe I need a regular AWS IAM account in order to do this, I just haven’t had the time to get one to see if that would resolve this.

Hi @maat

Speaking from personal experience. I had a similar issue as originally I was an Admin with just a QuickSight email based account.

We later determined that some of the admin features require an IAM role and hence I got an IAM account created and I then was able to get these features on the Manage QuickSight page.

Thanks for confirming! Did you end up having to create a separate QS account when you created the IAM account? Or were you able to link the IAM to the QS account while you were creating the IAM account?

Hi @maat

You need an IAM account with privileges to QuickSight. So there is no new QuickSight account needed.
