Cascading filter control

I have to add a cascading filter in controls such that selection of one filter affects the filter drop-down of the other filter, I checked the link (Creating cascading filters - Amazon QuickSight) but it does not really address my use case or maybe I am missing something each time. My filters are in controls at the top of the dashboard from where I want to see the cascading effect.

Here’s what I am trying to do: I have the filters - “Teacher” and “Student” and if I select a teacher from the drop-down I want the “Student” drop-down filter to show the students under that particular person only and not all students.

Has anyone done this in their dashboard ? It’s possible, I think but maybe I am missing a step each time. Help !

Is it possible to set up a filter where I can select a state, and when that state is selected, it displays a list of the hospitals within the state, which I would then be able to select all or some or just one.
