Hi Team,
We would like to share our dashboard with two distinct groups of users, let’s call them Group A and Group B. Our goal is to present different analyses and charts on the same sheet, tailored to each group’s role. So they won’t be able to see each other’s analysis.
Is it possiable? Can you please help?
I have not tried it, but it might be possible with some combinations of hide visuals and dynamic default parameters. But I would like to understand the use case better to understand why 2 different analysis and dashboards and share them with the different users groups is not the best option for you.
Background: We initially created a dashboard for team A. Team B has now requested similar functionality. Our PM prefers maintaining a single dashboard for easier management, but we need to:
Keep each team’s analysis separate/private
Show different analyses based on user roles (ex: manager vs. IC, US region vs EMEA etc)
Questions:
Can we display different charts/analyses based on user roles? (e.g., managers see analysis A, while ICs see different analyses)
Can we control sheet-level access within the same dashboard? (e.g., team A only sees sheets 1 & 2, while team B only sees sheet 3)
It is not possible to control access to sheets depending on the users roles. What you can do is maintain all the sheets in the same analysis and then publish specific sheets to different dashboards based on the roles and give access to the different dashboards to the different teams. Something like this.
In this way you maintain a single copy of the analysis and maintain the same datasets, while at the same time are able to share the dashboards with the different sheets to different roles.
Hi @Cindy,
From my understanding, if you’d like to display different analyses based on users/roles, you would need to implement a form of RLS to handle this. For additional information, you can visit the article listed below:
Hi @Cindy,
Since we have not heard back, I’ll go ahead and close out this topic. However, if you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new post in the community.
