Changes and errors on toUpper and toLower functions

Hi everyone, I seem to have a strange error on the simple functions to change the case from lower to upper.
It looks like these functions have been modified and cannot be used while having a SPICE dataset, does anyone have the same issue?!

1 - "new’ function doesn’t exist on the documentation (toUpper - Amazon QuickSight)
2- Function doesn’t seem to be allowed using SPICE as a calculated field on analysis

3-function doesn’t seem to be allowed on data preparation phase

does anyone have the same?

Hi

You can use these functions for direct query I believe.

Indeed, but given the size of the dataset and how is built, it wouldn’t perform properly…

Hi

Yes, that’s the constraint.

Hey Brett,

Thanks but I don’t really have an answer here as documentation remains outdated (function is not even the same anymore), so I’m still unsure on why this has changed for SPICE data and what are the possibilities for a workaround.

Let me know please if there’s anything you can share!

Thanks,

Hi @rodrigolodi,
What does the string look like that you’re trying to change? Is it always one word (with a single character that needs to be capitalized or lowecased) or multiple word?
Depending on what your string looks like, there could be a potential work around.

But additionally, are you able to complete in SQL? That would definitely be the easiest option.
