Changing Default AWS region

I’m dealing with a similar problem to this post ( Quicksight doesn’t honour my default region set in AWS Unified Settings - Question & Answer - Amazon QuickSight Community), except I want to set the region to us-west-2, but it defaults to us-east-1. I’ve set the default region in the AWS management console to west, but that doesn’t transfer over to quicksight, as QS still defaults to east. Has there been a solution or fix since this original post?

Hi @ineedqshelp ,

The concept of identity region in QuickSight allows us to set default region in QuickSight. Irrespective of other setting, QuickSight identity region is fixed for an account. The user management and Free allocated spice capacity based on author license is applicable in identity region only.

As per my knowledge there is no way to change identity region in QuickSight other than dissolving the QuickSight account and setting up afresh in the default region required.

Thanks,
Prantika

What is the concept of identity region? How do I set that?

The region you choose while creating/subscribing QuickSight is where your spice capacity will be deployed and is the default sign in region for users.

And there’s no way to change that if you’re a user?

As of now, there is no other way to change the identity region, once configured. And no way to setup default QuickSight region, other than identity region.
