I’ve made a dashboard; I am unsure if you can see the underlying datasets so I’ll include a few screenshots.
One sample dataset contains null values in column last_name_with_nulls. When i add a dataset filter: custom filter list and choose “Exclude” from the dropdown, all of the columns with null values are also excluded, which was not expected.
I did a comparison with the other sample dataset which had empty strings rather than nulls, and when using the same exact filter, the empty strings are not excluded (as expected).
Is there a fix for this? I know we have the option of including/excluding nulls in the analysis, but we wanted to filter this in the dataset.
This is pretty interesting, especially since there’s no option to exclude null’s in a dataset filter the way you would with a custom filter in analysis view. I haven’t been unable to find any documentation that explains this behavior or provides work arounds to avoid this so I agree that it may be a bug.
I would suggest creating a support ticket so that you can get more in depth assistance that’s directly related to your account.
Following up here as it’s been awhile since we last heard from you on this thread; were you able to create a support case and if so, were they able to assist further with your scenario?
If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.
Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!
