Deleting nested columns from previous aggregated calculations from my visual

Hi, it is my first time using QuickSight and I am encountering the following problem.

Goal: Visualize Over planning % metric grouped by Ship_week.

My metric (Over planning% ) is the average grouped by Ship_week of other metrics with aggregations (sumOver grouped by Ship Day and Route) .

Whenever I want to visualize Over planning% as an average I encounter the following problems:

  1. I can not remove ship_day and Route from the columns of my graph.
  2. Therefore, I see my avg Over planning% metric duplicated from every Route and every ship_day in the same ship_week.

I have tried to hide the Route and Ship_day columns, but only the names are hided, values are still replicated through all columns. Also, I tried to visualize only the last Value, but still I can not remove the Route and Ship_day columns. If I remove them I get an error saying I am missing some dimensions.

Is there a way in which I can filter not the data used, but the columns that are shown to the viewer or any other workaround?

Thanks a lot!

Hello @martmene, welcome to the Quicksight Community!

I have a few questions to better understand the issue you are running into: 1) What type of visualization are you choosing and 2) What are all the fields that you are adding to the field wells in the visualization?

Hi! Thank you very much for your reply! I answer your questions:

  1. I am using a pivot table, I have also tried a normal table, but it is not working.
  2. I am adding to the columns ship_week, ship_day and Route. In the values my metric Over planning%. I would rather include ship_day and Route, but if I do not add them, then I receive a message that some fields are missing.

Hey @martmene ,

Thank you for following up!

When you tried to hide your columns, were you following the steps outlined in “Showing and hiding pivot table columns in Amazon QuickSight”?

@martmene -
Did the steps provided by @duncan help solve your issue? If you are still having problems, could you provide a screenshot outlining the issue?

Hi, yes I tried. I think the best option is going directly to the Query and add my calculated files. Thank you very much for your help!

Hi @martmene ,

Did your the solution you mentioned solve the problem that you were running into?

Yes! By changing the query!
