Difference in Table size between snowflake db and Quick Sight Spice

Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding the difference between the snowflake database size and Quick Sight Spice size.

For instance, when I see the table size in Snowflake it is showing just 5.7 GB as below:

But when I load the same data on Quick Sight on spice it is showing 203.6 GB as below:

Why it is showing the huge difference between Snowflake Database and Quick Sight Spice Size. Your help is highly appreciated.

Hi @Santosh, you can see how SPICE capacity is calculated here. The size will depend on the datatypes you’re importing, but also includes any calculated fields that you’re defining in your data preparation stage. Also, SPICE is designed to enhance query performance and so will not directly reflect the same storage mechanism as your source.

Have a look at the doc and see if that makes sense. If you think the size is still excessive I would recommend you open a support ticket.

Thank you so much for your answer. It was really helpful.
