I’m about to start using Highcharts for visualizations in my Quick Sight dashboards and would like to understand the current capabilities and limitations before diving in.
Specifically, I’m looking to implement the following:
Drilldown Functionality – Is it possible to enable drilldowns within a Highcharts visual in Quick Sight? For example, clicking on a data point to drill into another level of detail based on dimensions.
Interactive Actions – Can Highcharts visuals support actions like:
Cross-filtering between visuals
Navigation to another sheet
URL actions to open external links
Additionally, are there any other limitations I should be aware of when using Highcharts in Quick Sight? I want to make sure I’m not investing time into configuring something that isn’t currently supported.
Appreciate any insights or best practices from those who’ve worked with Highcharts in Quick Sight!
Hi @Abhishek_24,
There are a still a fair amount of limitations when dealing with highchart options in Quick Sight. From a standpoint of chart options that are currently available, here is the list I received in an error message from QS:
In terms of functionality, you can visit this article, that has an overview of the highchart visualizations, currently to my knowledge, drill down functionality is still not available but there is a list of limitations at the bottom of the article.
According to the article, navigation and URL actions are also not available and from experience, applying color schemes can also be difficult.
In reference to other resources published by AWS, this is also a bit light. There are a couple Quick Sight Learning Series videos that I’ll include below and you can always check out the DemoCentral examples.
There are also a number of questions already posted in the community that explore different aspects of the highcharts, like this one that you can also refer to depending on the scenario.
