Feature Request - Remove 1 million row limit for CSV export from Table

We create dashboards that are intended for our customers to download. The occasionally breach the 1 million row limit.

Would like for them to be able to export more than 1 million rows at a time.

Hi @TRube - At present QuickSight has a limit of 1M rows, I am not sure if there is any change in the limit. on another note, ideally from a BI prospective, exporting 1M rows not a good approach, it should be an etl work where you can write logic an export the data in a file and deliver to it.

Hi @Karthik_Tharmarajan @Max @David_Wong @Naveed - What is your advise on this? Is there any plan to increase 1M limit in export down the line? Please advise.

How are the exported CSV files being used? Are your customers viewing them in Excel? If that’s the case, even if the limit if increased to more than 1M, they will hit the limit in Excel.

Thanks @David_Wong . I still recommended if the data volume is very high, better to have an extraction job rather extracting it from QuickSight. QuickSight is a Visualization tool not a data extraction tool

I don’t know what they do with it. I think it varies. They are all external customers at various levels of sophistication. Some may be loading it into a different system, some may just be saving them in excel to reference without having to go through the login process to get to Quicksight.

I agree with you about the ETL, but I’m operating within the boundaries of the tools my company has provided for us to use. We can talk about ideal solutions, but prioritization, funding, etc, often makes the ideal hard to achieve exactly when you want to achieve it.

I have brought up the idea that “hey, we should probably deliver these files via SFTP” but red tape has slowed that solution down to where I’m kind of stuck with this for the time being, unfortunately.

Thanks @TRube . But QuickSight has 1M limitation now and we can highlight this to add a feature request down the line.

Hi @Max - Can we add as a feature request to extend 1M to some big number

Sure I can mark this as a feature request!
