In my dataset, I have parameters startDate and endDate. The query currently uses startDate as January 1st of the current year and endDate as the current date, pulling data directly from the source. In my analysis, I have a dropdown with options for “This Year” and “Previous Year.” Based on the selection, two calculated fields generate values startDateCal and endDateCal. I need to update the startDate and endDate parameters with these startDateCal and endDateCal calculated values, rerun the query, and refresh the dataset accordingly.
Hi @Augustin_Raja_J and welcome to the Quick Sight community!
Quick Sight does not give the ability to add calculated fields as a default value to a parameter, currently you can only set a standard default value.
My suggestion for a work around in this case, Setup two separate date parameter sets; one setup with this year dates and one setup with previous year dates. Then setup rules on them respectively that trigger them to be shown based on your dropdown parameter where someone chooses ‘This year’ or ‘Previous year’ (have them hidden by default).
Let me know if you have any additional questions
I have attached the Image for some clarification, based on filter by dropdown selection the below table will update. Now i need update that value directly to that start and End Date which is left to dropdown that two parameters are mapped with dataset query
Hi @Augustin_Raja_J,
So is the ‘Filter By’ selection handled by a field that just has values of ‘This Year’ and ‘Previous Year’?
Could you share the filter you have setup for ‘Filter By’ so that I can see how that’s handling the visual?
Hi @Augustin_Raja_J,
Following up here as it’s been awhile since we last heard from you; are you still working on this or were you able to find a work around?
If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.
Thank you!
