How to retrieve visuals field names when a dataset causes missing field errors

Hi all,

I deleted and recreated datasets in my Quicksight account. I noticed after I added the new datasets to my analysis’ that some analysis’ would not show any data, visuals, field wells at all. I’ll attach a picture for clarity.

My question is this: How do I recover the field wells/names that each visual used before this failure?

These analysis’ were transferred to my account by AWS Pro Services and I don’t have any kind of artifact to re-create the analysis from scratch.

I would like to add one more strange quirk. As soon as I click on another visual in the analysis the dataset is deselected and it no longer shows any visuals fileds at all. I don’t understand why this is happening. The dataset is populated and I have permissions to it. I can query and see the data. The attached screen shot shows what I see when I click off the default visual that is selected when I open the analysis.

Hello @Gabriel_Bastien , welcome to the QuickSight community!

Unfortunately, there’s not really a way to recover these analyses from the console if you deleted the datasets they rely on prior to swapping them.

Did you create any kind of template of the analyses and stored them somewhere? Is there anyway to have the analysis retransferred from the source account?

Thank you @duncan for your reply. I appreciate it. You are correct. I managed to get a support call with AWS for this issue. We spent over two hours trying to obtain the analysis JSON and then fix the dataset references in it. In the end we gave up and found out I actually had a template from which the analysis was created. So I was then able to create a new analysis from the template and link it to the datasets I already had. Worked like magic!
