How to show null data in visuals -

I have a bar chart which shows me all the new customers we get each day, spread out across the month. Since we have recently closed for a short period, i am no longer getting data on new customers - such as count of customers over date.

It looks like it is defaulted to only include dates where data is, or i can select ‘show date gaps’ but this shows dates for gaps between data.
Example - data on 16th feb, data on 28th feb - this will show 17th-27th as null or empty, but any dates from 28th feb onwards doesn’t show there is no data.

In my bar chart, how can i show that there is no new data by showing the data, with no count or value?

hi @HarveyB-B

a few options you can check:

Hi, thanks for the quick response.

When doing the ‘Show date gaps’ it doesn’t show current date, only fills in gaps BETWEEN data, rather than BETWEEN and AFTER:
(Should show march but no bar since no new data)

For the ‘Show as ‘null’’ tickbox, it was default ticked and made no difference.

For the ‘Continuous line’ where can i find this box? I go to format visual but i am using bar chart so i have ‘Bars’ opposed to ‘Y-axis’, and there is no ‘Continuous line’ tickbox (that i can see)

the ‘Show date gaps’ it doesn’t show current date, only fills in gaps BETWEEN data, rather than BETWEEN and AFTER

We see this as well. Maybe a feature request is needed?

I think it is possible to do outside of a feature request, but getting to that point may take a while. I think the feature request would be to change Show date gaps to show up gaps between data, and also from the last data point to present, opposed to ONLY between data points

@Koushik_Muthanna are you able to raise this as a feature request?

Feature would be to show gaps in data up to current date, opposed to just between dates.

Hello @HarveyB-B !

I will mark this as a feature request for the QuickSight team.
