Incremental refresh option not being shown

Hi team,
I have a QuickSight dataset on SPICE where I initially created a Full Refresh schedule. Now when I try to switch it to Incremental Refresh, the option is not showing up. Can you please let me know what might be causing it, and how I can switch to incremental refresh

Hi @cijod,

Incremental refresh requires a date or timestamp column in your dataset that QuickSight can use as a lookback window to identify new or changed rows. If your dataset doesn’t have a suitable date column, the option won’t appear.

Not all data sources support incremental refresh. It is supported for relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Redshift, Athena), but not for file-based sources like S3 CSV/JSON uploads or Excel files.

Please refer to the following documentation for more details:

Hi,

We have a date field in the dataset.

The issue I am facing is that the Incremental Refresh option is visible when a dataset is first created. However, once I enable the Full Refresh option and later delete that schedule, the Incremental Refresh option no longer appears. As a workaround, I recreated the same dataset and enabled Incremental Refresh. My colleagues are experiencing the same issue as well.

Hi @cijod

I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!
