Invitation procedure does now work for a user

Hello,

I did many invitations and all of them worked, however for one person it does not work. I send the invitation email, he opens it create the password but after that, he is not sent to quicksight but to another log in page:

any suggestion why?

Hi @remba87,

Thank you for your question.

Can you try resending the invitation to the user? Also, ask the user to try a different browser and clear cache.

Resend an invitation to a user

The sign-up URL in the invitation email expires after 7 days. To resend an invitation to someone, use the following procedure.

  1. Choose your user name on the application bar and then choose Manage QuickSight.
  2. Choose Manage Users.
  3. Find the entry for the person you want to re-invite, and choose Resend invitation for that user.
  4. Choose Confirm.

Hello @demola ,

I tried to resend the invitation already, but that did not really work…in fact the email did not arrive at all…what I did then was to delete the account and create a new one, but still the same problem

Hi @remba87,
Please can the user check junk email folder?

Demola

hi @demola,
thank you for the help,

I tried again 1 hour ago, but no email arrived to the user (not even in the spam)

Hi @remba87,

Sorry you are still experiencing this.

Can you give it sometime - 24hrs and retry.

Regards,

Demola

So I will try to delete the account, wait a little bit, and then recreate the account from scratch, I will try also to do what is suggested here and see if this solve the problem.

Okay. Please do let me know the outcome and I am happy to support.

Hi @demola Nothing,

we cleared the cookies,

we also tried to use an incognito window…

From the procedure it looks like the user is created but the log in pass redirect to the root user, which is weird.
we checked and a AWS account does not exist in our organizzation
in addition, in the manage user part of Quicksight, I still have the resending invitation command and not the reset password…

any suggestion?

Hi @remba87 - This is a strange behavior. Adding users should be a simple activity. Are you adding the user from QuickSight UI or backend API?

Hi @Sanjeeb2022,
I added so many user so far, from UI…I just add the email address, I put them as reader and send the invitation.

then he recived the email, clicks on the link. set the password, select the QS account, select the username and then instead of going to the QS page, it goes to the log in of root user…it is the first time that something like this happen. I follow him on every step, but it ends up always in the sig in of AWS and not of QS

Hi @remba87 - Is it possible to give a different username ( just add a number at the end) and test it. This looks very strange for me, please try this out. If it is not working, better to submit a request to AWS customer support team and show this. I am suspecting the user id may be exist as a IAM user. so give a different username and try it.

this happens

but after that it still trys to log in as root and it ends up in the roots log in…

Hi @remba87 - Ok, the symptom is very strange, please raise a ticket to AWS Customer support team so that they can review this by screenshare. Please share the solution once you will get it. This is something new for all of us.

Hi @Sanjeeb2022,

I understood the problem…I can not confirm 100% but the issue was the username…

In the previous test, when I changed the username, I think that during the login the email was used and not the new username…

So with a new username (different from the email) everything worked!

Even if I did not manage to find the email of this person as some ARN within my AWS accounts, I think that the email is connected with something, thus the error…I will mark your previous comment as Solution.

Thank you
