we have a relative date filter in place but if users switch to “absolute date range” the end date is automatically excluded which triggers some confusion. Is it possible to include end date also when filter type relative dates is set initially?
Hope everything is well with you! Just checking in this thread since it hasn’t received a response in a while. Were you able to see Shahid’s most recent message and/or find a workaround yourself in the meantime? If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll go ahead and close/archive this topic.
Hi, I’ve answered the next day by clicking the heart emoji. No further questions, many thanks for the solution-idea! As it doesn’t give me exactly what I was looking for, I didn’t mark it as solution so I don’t confuse anybody. Fabian
Hello @fabian.altendorfer, I know you mentioned the above solution wasn’t exactly what you were looking for. As an alternative, if you open the filter while the control has an “absolute date range” selected, you will be able to select the option to “Include end date”.
Hi @fabian.altendorfer, to clarify, when you make the selection to include the end date in the absolute date range, this setting will be maintained whenever users choose to use absolute dates in that control. This setting will not impact the functionality of the filter when they choose to use relative dates. Please let me know if you were looking for something else!
I don’t know if understand you correctly but I’m not sure if the control works this way.
I can choose relative dates or absolute dates. If I select “include end date” in the absolute dates section and then switch over to relative dates, the selection of the end date inclusion is wiped out. If the user switches in the control from relative to absolute, end date is NOT included.
So I don’t really understand how this helps me, assuming I understood your answer correctly.
It gets a little tricky with the order in which you make the selections. I recommend you follow these steps:
Create a relative dates filter and add a control to your sheet.
With the filter configuration panel still open, use the control to select an absolute date range. Do not switch the filter type directly in the filter panel, use the control instead.
Once you select a date range, you should see the filter panel has updated to reflect a date & time range (while originally it said relative dates).
Check the box to include end date, and then click Apply.
The configuration to include end date will now be maintained whenever you choose to use absolute dates (as in, even after switching between the relative and absolute date options in the control, the selection to include end date will not be wiped out). Please let me know if you are still facing issues!
Following up here as it’s been a while since last communication took place on this thread; did you have any additional questions regarding your initial post?
If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.
