Are you asking for ability to show more friendly labels for the legend items.
For example, instead of showing airport codes (PDX, SEA etc) you want to show city name (Portlan, OR; Seattle, WA)? This can be done by defining a calculated field that converts values that are not user friendly. Sample expression for calculated field is
ifelse ({field}=“PDX”, “Portal, OR”, {field}=“SEA”, “Seattle, WA”, “Other”)
