I am using the new Data Prep Experience to replace a dataset that seems to be creating too much resource use because it won’t return results in Top 10 Scatter Plots. I am hoping that will change by reducing the number of columns in it from over 100 to 35.
I have two zip code columns that when I try to replace them in an analysis using the old data set, I am getting a Mismatched geographic role issue. They show in the old Dataset as Postcode datatype but String data type in the new. When I try to change the data type from string in the new experience, there are no geographic options to do that. They show in the Analysis as Geospatial data type in the old dataset but String data type in the new. I am in the process of transforming all our datasets to use the new data prep experience, so what are my options with this issue?
The new Data Prep Experience is relatively new and from experience, it currently misidentifies any geographical field with the inability to correctly fix it as you have mentioned. The new Data Prep Experience is being constantly worked on, but for the time being I would recommend continuing using the legacy data prep experience as geographical fields still work properly there.
Thank you for the quick response. I can certainly do that, but I was trying to use the new experience to convert all my datasets, of which I only have less than ten and this is the first one with geographic fields.
I understand what you are saying. Until AWS can find a solution to the geographical fields’ limitations in the new data prep experience, the legacy data prep experience is the only solution for right now. My recommendation would be to use the new data prep experience for datasets that do not contain geographic fields, and use the legacy experience for any that do, at least until AWS updates the feature.
@TraderRef As mentioned by @JacobR and called out in the documentation above, geospatial data is not yet supported in the new experience. Please switch back to legacy for this use case. FAQ 1 below talks about when users need to switch to legacy. FAQ 4 talks about the plan to add the unsupported features in the new experience.
I’d appreciate it if someone would help me find how to switch the legacy data prep experience. I have a 2-char ISO country code and I need to use it as geo data. As far as I understand, it is not possible in the new one.
