Missing Column error?

Column 13 of my Excel source contained the value ‘15’ and was visualized. After deleting it and refreshing, I get a ‘Missing Column’ error. How can I fix this without rebuilding the entire dashboard from scratch?

Hi @Byung_Ju_Park

If you recently deleted or re‑ordered a column in an Excel file used as an Quick Suite data source, you may see a Missing Column error in your visuals, even though the dashboard itself is still intact.

Quick Suite dataset still references the old column (for example, Column13), but it no longer exists in the updated Excel file. This causes the error message: The column(s) used in this visual do not exist.

To fix this:

Edit the dataset

  • Open the dataset.
  • In the field list, locate the field that corresponds to the deleted column.
  • Click Preview data if needed, then choose Save & visualize after confirming the field list matches your updated Excel schema.

Update affected visuals

  • Open the affected analysis or dashboard.
  • For each visual, check whether the deleted/removed field is still being used.
  • If it is used, remove that field from the visual (Axes, Values, Filters, etc.), then save the analysis and republish the dashboard with the new changes.
