Not seeing any subtotals for my pivot tables for any column whatsoever

I have created a few pivot tables.. from as simple as 1 row and 1 metric (aggregated using sum) to 3 rows + 50 metrics with custom aggregation methods. In none of the cases am I seeing subtotals being populated for any of my columns.

Hi @avinashlumos and welcome to the QuickSight community!
I’m thinking that since you mentioned that you’re not populating any for your ‘columns’, under the subtotal section in format visual, you selected to ‘Column’ underneath the subtotal section?

From my understanding, to get subtotals to populate for columns, you’ll need to hit the ‘swap columns and rows’ option.
Additionally, if you’d like to add a total/subtotal column, you’ll have to trigger the ‘columns’ on under ‘Total’ and then you can toggle the column option under ‘subtotal’ and you should receive the results:

I need to add a subtotals / totals row (sorry if I confused it earlier - I meant to say I am not seeing any subtotal/total values in the row for any column I have)

I have toggled totals and subtotals on but I still see an empty total row. If I add additional dimensions to the pivot, subtotal rows as well are empty.

Hi @avinashlumos,
Interesting that nothing is showing up at all; you said you’re using custom aggregation methods, what do those look like? Certain aggregations may stop the system from being able to run totals so it may be dependent on the fields and aggregation being used. Any additional information you can share could be helpful as it doesn’t seem to be an issue from something not being selected.

Ideally, if you’re able to upload a sample copy of your analysis with anonymized data, to QuickSight Arena, that would most likely be the easiest way for us to assist further!

Hi @avinashlumos,
Following up here as it’s been awhile since we last heard from you; did you have any additional questions or were you able to find a work around in the interim?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!

hey Brett, let me create a sample dataset in Arena and share in some time.

Hello @avinashlumos

Do you still need help with this issue or were you able to find a solution?

I tried creating a similar view in Arena - it seems to be working there. I am not sure if this is something to do with the data source (here I have uploaded a CSV vs using snowflake or other db in QuickSight directly)

this is the dashboard - I can see subtotals here.
