Hello Team

Hi @gcchordi - Can you please see the below documentation for the same - Functions by category - Amazon QuickSight
If you have any specific requirement, please provide an example so that we can request QuickSight team to add as a feature request ( in case it is not available).

Sanjeeb
Hi @Sanjeeb2022 - I don’t see any function that provides what I am trying to solve. Do you have a very specific function that I might have missed that provides a way to extract month name (Jan/Feb/March etc.) from a date field without the need to creating additional parameters or additional calculated fields
Hi @gcchordi - Thanks, in that case we need to add as a feature request.
Hi @DylanM - Please help.

Hello @gcchordi, there isn’t out-of-the-box functionality for something like this, so you would have to build a work-around calculation to make something like this work. I created a field called Month Name in this demo analysis that you can use:
Please add a function to extract month name from date field
Basically, with the use of the extract calculation within an ifelse statement, you can return the Month name. I’ll mark this response as a solution since it provides a work-around and I will tag the topic as a feature request for our support team. Thank you!
Hello @DylanM - Thank you for providing the workaround solution. I knew a few options to get to month name from date field. What I am trying to get is a in built solution to get this without having to create additional calculations. Also it would be best if the function sorts the month name in the natural order of occurrence, and not alphabetically. Again there are work around to achieve it but having it in built would be best. This is a available in Tableau and other BI tools where the month name are sorted in the natural order by default when you use their date name function
Thanks
Hello @gcchordi, I completely understand. At AWS, our roadmap is primarily driven by our customers. Your feedback helps us build a better service. Since you would like to see this added to QuickSight, we have tagged this topic as a feature request.
For now, please utilize the work-around solution and you can keep an eye on the What’s New tab of the community to see the new features that are being released.
I will archive this topic for our support team. Thank you!
