Query works in SPICE but not Direct Query mode

I have a SQL query that I want to publish and visualise. SPICE is the default query mode but I’d prefer to ‘Publish & visualise’ with ‘Direct query’. However, when I do this I get the error message:

”Cannot publish datase. Unable to update the dataset. If the issue persists, please contact the QuickSight support.”

This wasn’t an issue in the previous version of Quick Suite, when it was still Quicksight (EU-WEst-2 London). Can anybody help me understand why I am getting this error message?

Could you please share what data source is being used in the dataset?

Since your query works with SPICE, could you try creating a new dataset using the same query but with Direct Query mode enabled and see if that works.
