I created a new namespace and I wanted to create dataset and analysis and dashbaords in that namespace from quicksight UI console.
But I am not seeing an option to do that. Can you please guide me how to use custom namespace to achieve multitenancy?
Hi @duncan my question is around how the authors works on quicksight console on creating dashboards and sharing dashboards to particular namespace users?
One example is I register users using registerapi into my custom namespace and authors login to console where they can see these namespace uses?
2. When authors logging in to quicksight console can they see the namespace share the dashboards and datasets to namespace from quicksight console?
To do this in the console you can go to the icon in the top right hand side of the screen, and in the menu click on Manage Quicksight. In the next screen click on Manage Assets:
I’m not sure what you mean by entering the console at the namespace level but admins should be able to share Quicksight assets to a namespace or user group.
Hi @duncan
When registering users into quicksight we use namespace right? In this case I am registering few Authors into the custom namespace and expecting they can work in the quicsight console when we embed the console into UI or provision access via sso.
As per your statement I need to register these users into Default and custom namespace. In order to access quicksight console which is accessible only on Default namespace.
And one correction Admin access is limited access which we use to control user management and it’s not to control assets right?
Authors are the one works on creating datasets and working on dashboards right?
Hello @sav0819, I think there may have been a bit of confusion here. With the screenshots I posted above, it allows you to see the namespace that the user or group is associated with. I did not mean to make it seem that a user has to be associated with a specific namespace and a default namespace, I just didn’t alter the dropdown in the image.
As for user access, if the dataset or analysis is shared to a namespace, authors and admins in that namespace should be granted access to them. Now if it is created in that namespace but not shared, you may have to share directly to individual users.
Lastly, Admin access is the highest level account access besides Account owner. They can manage assets and users. I hope this helps!
