QuickSuite Agent is not able to read full query result from Topic

I found an issuee that QuickSuite Topic truncate query results with <skip>more rows are skipped and displayed in visual.</skip>. I have a QuickSuite Chat Agent that connect to a QuickSight Topic through Space. However, when asking about some questions that it needs to query the topic, it analyze based off the truncated/partial data, which produce completely inaccurate results without any acknowledgement. How to mitigate such issue? In case it’s a Topic API limitations, why the Agent cannot read the completed dataset from visual instead?

Hi @wantiany

Welcome to the Quick Suite community!

This appears to be a known limitation in topic querying, where results truncate to ~20 rows (with ‘more rows skipped’ messages), leading to partial data analysis. Have you tried connecting the datasource used for the topic to the agent instead of linking the topic and testing out to see if it can complete your request?

Hi, thanks for the response! I use Topic because there is no direct way to query the SPICE dataset behind my dashboard (at the same time, agent cannot apply dashboard filters is another bummer). I also tried to prompt chat agent to acknowledge the truncated data and break down the query but it didn’t seems to execute what I expected.

Can you suggest how to connect to the datasource directly? I also don’t find the options to directly connect to the S3/Redshift data behind the dataset.

Hi @wantiany

Using Topics makes perfect sense, as SPICE datasets aren’t directly query able by Quick Suite Chat Agents, and dashboard filters don’t apply automatically.
