I’m working on a solution that embeds Quicksight Q into our web app.
I have the current topic looking at a dataset we manage within Quicksight. I recently had to change the schema that added columns to the dataset. Is there a way that the topic will pick up the changes to the schema I’ve tried the refresh feature within quickisight Q and that does not seem to work. Will I need to make a new topic? If so, that is ridiculous because I will lose months of work from my current topic. Any help or guidance is appreciated.
I asked this question a week ago now and I’m hoping for a more sincere response.
I just tried this in my internal account and works as expected as @David_Wong posted in his replies, you add the field to the dataset, you publish your dataset, run the refresh of the topic and then the field will show up.
In your case, as you are not getting the expected functionality, I will recomend testing this with a simple dataset with a couple of fields, create a topic and follow the process to add a new field and refreshing the dataset so you can discard something related to the dataset/topic you have created.
I would also recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf.
